Electro-Optical Engineer

CDDS AG seeks a Mid-level Electro-Optical Engineer in Zürich to design and optimize camera systems for drones within a fast-paced deep-tech startup environment.

This position focuses on the design, development, and optimization of electro-optical and thermal camera systems specifically for drone applications. The role is embedded within a rapidly expanding deep-tech startup dedicated to high-impact technological missions.

Responsibilities

• Defining camera system specifications for drone platforms and selecting appropriate components.
• Establishing and setting up an image quality laboratory.
• Collaborating with suppliers and conducting tests on camera modules.
• Adjusting camera system parameters, including ISP settings and histograms, to enhance image quality.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of two years of professional experience in designing, tuning, optimizing, and testing optical systems.
• Strong technical expertise in optics.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with drone-mounted cameras.
• Background in embedded systems.
• Knowledge of thermal imaging technologies.
• Familiarity with C/C++ programming.
