Destinusgroup in Zürich seeks a Lead Digital Signal Processing Engineer to lead the development of core algorithms for autonomous flight systems, focusing on inertial measurement and navigation technologies for advanced UAVs.
This role is central to advancing autonomous flight systems at Destinusgroup, shaping the mathematical foundation for next-generation navigation and guidance. It involves creating core algorithms for inertial measurement technologies used in demanding aerospace environments, supporting the company’s mission to revolutionize defense with cutting-edge unmanned aerial vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of the mathematical framework for in-house inertial measurement unit technology
- Create and maintain digital twin models to simulate and enhance sensor and system performance
- Develop high-speed control loop algorithms for real-time embedded applications
- Implement Extended Kalman Filters and sensor fusion techniques in C++ to boost navigation accuracy and flight stability
- Apply AI-based methods to reduce noise, compensate for thermal effects, and optimize signal processing
- Analyze raw sensor data to verify system performance, set benchmark standards, and refine accuracy
- Work closely with hardware, FPGA, embedded software, AI, and flight control teams to align theoretical models with real-world aerospace applications
- Support the advancement of autonomous navigation and guidance systems across the Destinus platform
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Control Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline
- Expertise in C++ for real-time embedded systems and RTOS environments
- Strong background in Python, MATLAB, or Simulink for algorithm modeling, simulation, and development
- In-depth knowledge of digital signal processing, control theory, and sensor fusion
- Experience with inertial navigation systems, including gyro bias stability, random walk, and scale factor linearity
- Understanding of embedded hardware, including high-speed SoCs and FPGA-to-ARM processor interfaces
- Proven track record in developing robust algorithms for aerospace, robotics, automotive, or defense applications
- Analytical ability to translate complex physical systems into scalable mathematical models
