SwissDrones Operating AG seeks a Senior System Engineer Avionics - Flight Control (a) in Buchs, CH, for a permanent hybrid role. The position involves designing and integrating flight control systems, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and leading system development across the product lifecycle.
This role focuses on the end-to-end system design and integration of flight control systems for SwissDrones' products. The engineer will define system architectures and requirements based on performance, safety, and operational goals, while taking ownership of electrical and electronic systems throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate flight control systems for the company’s products
- Define flight control architectures and system requirements based on performance, safety, and operational goals
- Take full system design responsibility for assigned electrical and electronic systems across the entire product lifecycle
- Create and maintain design documentation including specifications, wiring diagrams, configurations, interface definitions, and test procedures
- Assemble prototypes of components and systems
- Lead and support integration of systems into aircraft platforms
- Support ground and flight testing, including hands-on troubleshooting
- Perform root cause analysis and technical problem solving
- Manage avionics components and system suppliers
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards
Requirements
- Higher education in Electrical Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or Systems Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical, electronics, avionics, or system integration engineering
- Strong expertise in electrical flight control systems, including manufacturing support, assembly, and testing
- Hands-on approach with proven ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical issues
- High flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, growing company environment
- Strong team orientation with effective communication skills across technical disciplines
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Experience using Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Proactive, can-do attitude with a strong sense of ownership from project start to delivery
Nice to have
- Proficiency in at least one major electrical CAD/ECAD tool for schematics, wiring, or harness design
- Experience in high-quality, safety-critical industries such as aviation, automotive, medical devices, or rail
- Experience with certification processes or work under EASA Part21 regulations
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
- German language skills at B2 (Upper Intermediate) level
