Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer

Destinusgroup in Zürich seeks a Senior Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to support flight testing for next-generation unmanned aerial systems. The role involves designing and managing data acquisition and telemetry systems for UAVs, with international travel required.

This position supports critical flight tests for Destinusgroup’s unmanned aerial vehicles by developing and managing data acquisition systems. The company is advancing the defense industry through innovative UAV technology and collaborates with global government and defense partners.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and flight test teams to define data acquisition needs for flight campaigns
• Design and build full flight test instrumentation systems, including hardware, software, telemetry, and sensor integration
• Develop telemetry systems and ground stations for real-time, reliable flight data delivery
• Install, calibrate, validate, and maintain instrumentation on unmanned aerial platforms
• Ensure high-quality, accurate data collection during flight tests
• Provide on-site support for flight operations and resolve instrumentation issues in dynamic environments
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to enhance testing capabilities and data reliability
• Help create scalable and efficient instrumentation processes for future projects

Requirements

• Prior experience as a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer or in a similar role within aerospace
• A background in aerospace engineering is required
• Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Solid knowledge of data acquisition, telemetry, and sensor technologies
• Proven experience integrating and validating instrumentation hardware and software
• Ability to work directly with flight hardware in demanding test conditions
• Strong communication and organizational skills for cross-team collaboration
• Willingness to travel internationally for flight test support

Nice to have

• Experience with unmanned systems is considered an advantage
