Flybotix seeks a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to design and optimize firmware for indoor inspection drones within its R&D team in Switzerland.
This position is part of the research and development group at Flybotix, where the primary focus is creating reliable software solutions for indoor inspection drones. The role requires working closely with colleagues in a supportive environment that prioritizes practical solutions and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Create, update, and sustain embedded firmware for drone inspection systems.
- Evaluate the feasibility of new firmware features and ongoing maintenance tasks.
- Enhance the performance and quality of real-time, bare-metal, and Embedded Linux applications.
- Build and validate sensor drivers, low-level libraries, and RTOS-based components.
- Establish automated testing routines and CI/CD pipelines to guarantee system stability.
- Partner with Robotics and Production departments to facilitate integration and deployment.
- Record technical processes, design decisions, and testing protocols.
Requirements
- Over five years of hands-on experience developing C/C++ firmware for ARM architectures.
- Deep knowledge of Embedded Linux development and kernel modifications.
- Proven ability to design and profile real-time, bare-metal applications.
- Strong proficiency in STM32 MCU programming, including low-level libraries and RTOS platforms like NuttX or FreeRTOS.
- Experience in developing sensor drivers and integrating hardware with software.
- Familiarity with MCU development tools such as STM32CubeIDE, Keil, IAR, J-Link, and OpenOCD.
- Background in implementing automated testing frameworks and CI/CD workflows.
- Skilled in debugging, troubleshooting, and modifying embedded systems.
- Fluent communication skills in English.
- A quality-driven approach with meticulous attention to detail and organized work habits.
- A collaborative team player who respects others and focuses on finding solutions.
Nice to have
- Prior experience with drone, robotics, or UAV systems is highly valued.
- Ability to speak French is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of Rust programming for embedded environments is a significant benefit.
