Wingtra 2 seeks a Robotics Firmware Intern in Zürich to develop embedded C/C++ software for drone platforms, analyze system logs, and support testing and integration.

This internship offers a chance to contribute to the WingtraRAY platform and future products within a global team of over 125 dedicated professionals.
Responsibilities
- Create, test, and implement embedded C/C++ features for the WingtraRAY system and new product lines.
- Build and maintain firmware modules including sensor integration, system health checks, component communication, validation logic, and safety protocols.
- Review flight and operational logs from internal and customer use, and enhance Python-based tools for log analysis and debugging.
- Plan and run automated tests, hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and field drone trials to validate code performance.
- Collaborate with QA, hardware, production, and application teams to ensure smooth system integration and reliable product operation.
- Engage in team meetings, technical discussions, code reviews, feedback sessions, and company-wide gatherings.
Requirements
- Completed a B.Sc. and currently enrolled in an M.Sc. program in Software, Robotics, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Proficient in C/C++ development with an interest in embedded, real-time, and resource-constrained software systems.
- Skilled in Python for data analysis, visualization, and managing large time-series datasets.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and a willingness to learn and work independently on technical challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluent spoken and written English.
- Collaborative mindset, openness to feedback, and a strong sense of ownership and engineering responsibility.
- EU citizenship or enrollment in a Swiss institution to meet work-permit regulations.
Nice to have
- Experience with git, code review processes, CI pipelines, and AI-assisted development workflows.
- Familiarity with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, Dronecode SDK, or other UAV/autopilot software stacks.
- Hands-on experience with STM32 microcontrollers and low-level protocols.
- Experience using Raspberry Pi or other companion computers.
- Skills in soldering, electronics debugging, or hands-on robotics work.
- Valid driving license (B).
