The company seeks a mid-level Enterprise Applications Specialist in Zürich to manage engineering systems, PLM/CAD platforms, and integrations while driving automation and optimizing the application portfolio.
This position focuses on steering the engineering applications strategy and technical infrastructure. The specialist will oversee the application portfolio, manage integrations between key systems, and ensure the technical environment supports product development and operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Establish and carry out the strategy for engineering applications in line with business and technical goals.
- Manage the full lifecycle of the application portfolio, including roadmap planning and performance tracking.
- Lead efforts to standardize and consolidate applications to cut redundancy and boost efficiency.
- Oversee vendor relationships, software licenses, and cost-saving measures across the toolset.
- Spot and roll out automation, AI/ML features, and new technologies within the systems roadmap.
- Serve as the main technical owner for engineering applications, handling configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain PLM, CAD, and related enterprise platforms, covering infrastructure, databases, and application setups.
- Set up workflows, lifecycles, business rules, and integrations that support engineering and manufacturing workflows.
- Handle user roles, permissions, security policies, and access controls in line with data classification and export rules.
- Plan and run upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal impact on operations.
- Build and keep integrations between PLM, CAD, ERP, and other engineering tools to ensure data sync and traceability.
- Facilitate data exchange with manufacturing execution systems and requirements management tools.
- Create and maintain automated scripts, interfaces, and system connections.
- Guarantee data integrity, correct file structures, naming conventions, and change management procedures.
- Guide and mentor a small team while monitoring project scope, progress, and risks.
- Work closely with engineering, configuration management, manufacturing, and IT teams to align systems with business needs.
- Promote tool adoption, provide user training, and run enterprise-wide awareness campaigns.
- Act as a trusted advisor for engineering systems and technology solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in enterprise applications or engineering systems, with direct support of PLM and CAD tools.
- Hands-on system administration and integration experience in aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, or similar sectors.
- Experience managing application portfolios, vendor relationships, and software licensing optimization.
- Strong background in enterprise application architecture, administration, integration, and development.
- Proficiency with PLM platforms and engineering tools like Teamcenter, NX, Altium, Jira, Polarion, or similar systems.
- Experience integrating ERP systems, manufacturing tools, and relational databases such as SQL.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation technologies including Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting.
- Understanding of product development environments, engineering change management, configuration management, and BOM structures.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Good English skills (written and spoken).
- Eligibility to work in Switzerland (Swiss or EU citizenship required).
Nice to have
- German language skills are desirable.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, cybersecurity practices, AI/ML technologies, and regulated data environments is advantageous.
