Coherent Switzerland AG seeks an Equipment Technician for Test Development in Zürich. The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing semiconductor test equipment within a high-tech manufacturing environment.
This position supports the full lifecycle of semiconductor test equipment, ranging from initial design and evaluation to system bring-up and production release. The technician operates within a central research and production hub dedicated to advanced photonics, engineered materials, and high-power semiconductor laser technologies.
Responsibilities
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on sophisticated manufacturing and testing systems.
- Diagnose and resolve faults in mechanical, electrical, and electronic assemblies through systematic analysis.
- Maintain high equipment availability and ensure stable production processes.
- Record all service and maintenance actions in the maintenance management system.
- Assist with the assembly, integration, and commissioning of new equipment and subsystems.
- Carry out functional testing and qualification procedures.
- Construct, modify, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies.
- Propose design enhancements and contribute to the ongoing optimization of existing systems.
Requirements
- A completed technical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, or a similar technical discipline.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in semiconductor manufacturing, precision engineering, or other high-tech manufacturing settings.
- Initial background in maintaining or supporting complex production equipment.
- Proficiency in English.
