Forward Deployed Engineer

Adaptyv seeks a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to bridge its automated lab and protein design teams, integrating APIs and building reliable software solutions for customers in a hybrid role based in Lausanne.

This position acts as the technical link between Adaptyv's automated laboratory and the scientists designing proteins. The engineer will embed with clients to understand their workflows, integrate the company's API into their pipelines, and ensure that model outputs translate into real-world experiments while measurements flow back automatically.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with clients to grasp their protein design processes and identify where Adaptyv's solutions fit.
• Connect the company's API to customer pipelines for submitting designs, monitoring experiments, and retrieving structured data.
• Develop SDKs, client libraries, scripts, and lightweight services to ensure clean and maintainable integrations.
• Architect data flows that transform model outputs into physical experiments and return measurement data automatically.
• Rapidly prototype solutions and refine successful concepts into production-ready systems.
• Act as the internal technical representative for customers, translating field insights into API, documentation, and product enhancements.
• Foster long-term partnerships by transforming initial integrations into sustainable collaborations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a software engineer writing production-grade code in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Ability to design clean APIs, manage integrations, and take full ownership of systems from start to finish.
• Strong customer-facing skills with a passion for translating vague requirements into concrete technical plans and delivering usable solutions.
• Autonomous and fast-paced work style, capable of navigating unfamiliar codebases and launching integrations without detailed specifications.
• Experience building with AI coding agents like Claude Code and possessing strong judgment over their output.
• Solid background in API and integration work, including handling authentication, webhooks, retries, and complex data flows.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and adapting to evolving needs.

• Interest in biology, protein design, or machine learning for scientific applications.
