Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

Blp Digital, a Swiss deep-tech startup spun out of ETH Zurich and HSG, seeks a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to embed in customer environments and deliver AI-driven ERP automation solutions. The role involves rapid, end-to-end delivery of technical solutions for global enterprises, with a focus on speed, quality, and customer feedback.

Blp Digital is redefining ERP automation using agentic AI, with a proven product-market fit and global reach. This role is for a Forward Deployed Engineer who will be embedded directly in customer environments, solving enterprise problems from initial discussion to production in days. Working alongside senior consultants and other FDEs, the engineer owns the technical solution end-to-end, with a strong focus on customer-centric delivery and rapid iteration.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with end-users, process owners, and client engineers to understand workflows and underlying business challenges.
• Design and implement technical solutions that translate business goals into architecture, data models, integrations, agent logic, and workflows, delivering them in days or weeks.
• Develop full-stack applications using TypeScript for the backend and React for the frontend, including integrations, LLM orchestration, and evaluation frameworks.
• Present working prototypes to real users frequently, incorporating their feedback into rapid iterations.
• Make real-time decisions balancing speed, quality, and cost, choosing between building, buying, or configuring existing platform features.
• Ensure system reliability post-deployment by monitoring observability and evaluations, iterating based on real-world performance.
• Build trust with client engineering and security teams regarding API access, data handling, deployment, and code reviews.
• Extract and share reusable components, prompt designs, and integration patterns to support future projects.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a builder who has taken systems from concept to production and maintained them in live environments.
• Strong proficiency with modern AI tools, including LLM APIs, function calling, agent frameworks, evaluation methods, and prompt engineering.
• Solid skills in TypeScript for backend development and React (or equivalent) for frontend, with experience handling APIs, authentication, queues, and legacy system integrations.
• Daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, enabling faster delivery than traditional engineering approaches.
• Comfortable in customer-facing roles, skilled at asking insightful questions, and able to respectfully challenge assumptions.
• Ability to work quickly, communicate clearly, and thrive in ambiguous situations, including rapidly prototyping in unfamiliar domains.
• Fluent in English.

Nice to have

• Experience automating business processes in ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or NetSuite.
• Background in consulting, solutions engineering, or founding/building products from start to finish.
• German language skills.
