Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Global Automation Standards & Gov. Lead in Schaffhausen to develop and govern automation standards for synthetic and biotherapeutics manufacturing sites.
This senior position sits within the Global Engineering & Technology Automation organization, providing strategic support to Synthetics and Biotherapeutics sites. Based primarily in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, the role is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing automation standards across all Process Automation System platforms used in the manufacturing network.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain global automation standards for Process Automation System platforms such as Emerson DeltaV, Siemens PCS-7, and Aveva Wonderware.
- Enforce standards throughout the manufacturing network and manage global library updates.
- Track compliance with established standards and spot areas for enhancement.
- Manage global libraries, recipe management, process control, and data historian functions.
- Build and sustain a roadmap for current and future Process Automation Systems that aligns with established standards.
- Define global standards and advise on Automation architecture and OT network infrastructure at Level 2.5.
- Support plant technology strategies, planning, and the uptime and maintenance of the platform environment.
- Work closely with Automation Leads at Synthetic and Biotherapeutic Sites.
- Find ways to harmonize processes and distribute best practices and solutions.
- Promote a collaborative culture to minimize duplication and speed up implementation.
- Stay connected with industry experts and thought leaders to introduce advanced solutions.
- Ensure all activities align with enterprise strategies, compliance rules, and technology roadmaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- At least 12 years of experience in manufacturing, ideally within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical sector.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in Automation, OT, or IT roles within pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environments.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and executing global automation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and integration with MES and IT systems.
- Expertise in applying ISA S95 and S88 standards within the Global Supply Chain.
- Understanding of cGMP regulations for Automation and Computer System Validation, including 21 CFR Part 11 and EU GMP Annex 11.
- Fluent proficiency in written and spoken English.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in additional languages such as Dutch, Spanish, Italian, or German.
- Familiarity with industry standards and networks like ISPE, GAMP, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
