Harmattan Ai in Lausanne, CH, seeks a mid-level GNC Engineer to design and develop guidance, navigation, and control systems for UAVs. The role involves simulation, embedded implementation, and flight testing, requiring expertise in control theory, estimation, and sensor integration.
This position is part of the UAV team and focuses on creating advanced guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) solutions. The work spans from simulation and embedded development to live flight testing, supporting the full lifecycle of UAV system development.
Responsibilities
- Create cutting-edge navigation and sensor fusion algorithms for unmanned aerial vehicles
- Design and implement GNC and flight control systems for UAV platforms
- Develop filtering and estimation techniques to ensure stable and efficient flight performance
- Conduct comprehensive simulations including Monte Carlo, SITL, and HITL, along with coverage testing
- Evaluate flight test data and optimize algorithm performance accordingly
- Support integration of full-stack systems including GNSS, INS/IMU, localization, and sensor fusion
- Maintain and enhance a flight-proven flight computer used across multiple UAV platforms
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an engineering school or master’s in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in aerospace GNC systems
- Solid understanding of control theory, estimation, and sensor integration
- Proficiency in Python and embedded C/C++ programming
- Experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo and version control using Git
- Familiarity with open-source autopilot systems including PX4, Ardupilot, and Betaflight
- Practical skills in electronics and system integration, including debugging, soldering, and harnessing

- Experience as an FPV pilot hobbyist
