Validation Engineer

Harmattan Ai in Lausanne, CH, seeks a mid-level Validation Engineer to validate autonomous defense systems. The role involves planning and executing tests on drones and payloads, analyzing data, and collaborating with R&D and engineering teams to ensure system reliability and performance.

This role focuses on validating the performance, reliability, and operational readiness of autonomous defense systems. The engineer leads test campaigns on the company’s own platforms to support internal development and maintain a competitive advantage.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out validation and verification of defense systems, including drones and payloads, in both simulated and real-world environments.
• Design and run comprehensive tests for new features, hardware setups, and software releases.
• Create, document, and improve structured test procedures.
• Analyze telemetry, logs, and test results to evaluate system behavior and suggest design improvements in collaboration with R&D.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to aid in debugging and iterative improvements based on test findings.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in validation for aerospace, robotic, or embedded robotics systems.
• Strong grasp of rigorous testing and validation methodologies for technical systems.
• Broad engineering knowledge in flight dynamics, control systems, avionics, or RF systems.
• Ability to design and execute structured test protocols.
• Experience with DVT/PVT phases and environmental testing approaches.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis to interpret test data and assess system reliability.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong documentation and organizational abilities.
• Effective communication and leadership skills, capable of guiding teams toward successful outcomes.

Nice to have

• Pilot certification or hands-on experience with military or industrial drone platforms.
