Manual Tester (UAV Software)

Destinusgroup in Zürich seeks a Mid-level Manual Tester for UAV software, focusing on validating autonomous systems before deployment. The role involves hands-on testing, environment setup, and collaboration with engineering and operations teams.

This role serves as the final validation step before autonomous UAV systems transition from development to real-world use. It involves testing cutting-edge drone software, ensuring reliability and functionality across various configurations and environments, supporting Destinusgroup’s mission to revolutionize defense operations with advanced unmanned aerial vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Participate in testing workflows that directly affect autonomous flight systems and UAV operations
• Perform manual software tests to verify functionality across different systems and setups
• Download and install software builds from repositories and set up testing environments
• Detect crashes, bugs, and unexpected behaviors during testing
• Gather logs, reproduce issues, and deliver clear feedback to engineering teams
• Set up software environments using command line tools and by editing configuration files
• Support ongoing testing by validating fixes and retesting updated software versions
• Work with developers and drone operators to enhance software reliability and user experience

Requirements

• Prior experience operating UAVs or drones
• Background in manual software testing or technical troubleshooting
• Comfort using command line interfaces and modifying configuration files
• Technical ability to run binaries, check logs, and diagnose crashes
• Experience installing and configuring software in non-standard environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to document issues clearly and communicate findings effectively
