Graduate Internship/RiSE - Uncovering novel regulators of Alzheimer's Disease targets (12 months)

Roche seeks a graduate intern for its RiSE program in Basel to analyze omics data and conduct in vitro experiments to identify new regulators of Alzheimer's Disease targets.

This position is part of the Neuroscience and Rare Diseases Discovery and Translational Area, specifically within the Brain Delivery group at the Roche Innovation Center Basel. The intern will join the highly competitive RiSE program, integrating into Roche’s R&D environment to map the regulatory landscape of Alzheimer’s Disease targets through omics data analysis and experimental in vitro work.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside computational scientists to process sequencing datasets and extract biological insights.
  • Plan and execute in vitro experiments based on the interpretation of transcriptomic data.
  • Utilize molecular cell biology techniques in stem-cell derived models to validate biological hypotheses.
  • Share findings and discuss progress during internal team meetings.
  • Compile experimental results to support the drafting and submission of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

  • Must have completed a Master’s degree within the past year or be currently enrolled in a PhD or medical degree program.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in generating and analyzing single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) data.
  • Possess hands-on expertise in engineering induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based models of brain cell types for functional genomic studies, such as CRISPR applications.
  • Have a broad skill set involving various cell and molecular biology assays.
  • Non-EU/EFTA applicants must be enrolled in a PhD or medical degree program and provide official documentation confirming the internship is a mandatory part of their studies.
