The Group Risk Assurance Controls Manager role at Lombard Odier oversees the Group’s risk assurance framework and control testing in Geneva. The position requires strong expertise in operational risk, regulatory compliance, and team leadership.
This position is located within the Operational Risk Management department in Switzerland and operates as part of the second line of defense. The role holds complete responsibility for the Group’s risk assurance and control testing framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal priorities.
Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and improve the Group-wide risk assurance control testing framework and annual assurance plan
- Lead, coach, and manage a small team of one full-time equivalent, setting priorities and overseeing performance
- Develop and execute a risk-based control testing strategy that aligns with regulatory requirements and internal goals
- Conduct periodic and ad-hoc control testing across various business units and processes
- Provide independent oversight and challenge to the first line’s risk management and control frameworks
- Evaluate the effectiveness of Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and other first-line control activities
- Prepare clear and impactful reports for senior management, risk committees, and governing bodies
- Track and validate remediation actions for identified control deficiencies
- Advance the risk assurance framework, methodologies, and toolsets using data-driven approaches where feasible
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related discipline
- 5–7 years of experience in private banking or financial services, with substantial exposure to operational risk, internal controls, audit, or risk assurance functions
- Demonstrated experience in leading control testing programs and managing assurance activities
- Prior people management or mentoring experience is required
- Strong understanding of the three lines of defense model and governance structures within private banking
- Deep expertise in control testing methodologies, RCSAs, and control frameworks
- Strong knowledge of banking operations, regulatory requirements (FINMA, Basel) and industry standards
- Fluent in English and French
