Hardware Development Engineer

Rockwell Automation (Switzerland) seeks a Hardware Development Engineer in Aarau for electromechanical component design within an international team. The role focuses on low-voltage switching devices, technical investigations, and product development from feasibility to production.

This position supports the Sensing, Safety and Industrial Components Business by designing electromechanical components, primarily low-voltage switching and protection devices. The engineer conducts technical investigations and feasibility studies to advance future products. While reporting to a local engineering manager, the role operates within international development teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop electromechanical switchgear, control gear, and accessories from initial feasibility through serial production, adhering to international standards and internal procedures.
• Enhance existing product lines to comply with global standards and customer needs.
• Establish, analyze, and select new product concepts.
• Plan and execute development tests alongside the local test team.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Support industrialization with production equipment and test equipment.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies and methods for specific area of expertise.
• Perform and support benchmarking activities of competitors products.

Requirements

• University degree in mechanical design, or equivalent.
• Several years of experience in the development of mechanical products (plastic and metal parts).
• Skilled in CAD and PLM Systems (CREO and Windchill are advantageous).
• Familiarity with international product standards such as UL, IEC, etc.
• Experience working in international teams (also remote).
• Fluent in writing and speaking in either German or English (both preferred).
• Cultural awareness/sensitivity in dealings across regions/geographies.
• High level of resiliency.
• Good communication skills across all levels.
• Take job relevant decisions in time.
• Comfortable working in an international team environment with people from different cultures, languages and locations.
