Test Technician, High Current Laboratory

Rockwell Automation (Switzerland) seeks a Test Technician for its High Current Laboratory in Aarau. The position involves conducting electrical tests, maintaining lab infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

This role is part of the test team responsible for validating innovative products for global markets. The technician ensures the reliable operation of critical laboratory infrastructure while executing high-current tests to support product development.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-current electrical tests according to IEC and UL standards, including system setup, configuration, and monitoring.
• Maintain and troubleshoot high-power laboratory infrastructure, such as electrical machines, switching devices, and power distribution networks.
• Keep equipment in operational condition through preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Document test results and maintenance data in a traceable manner that meets audit requirements.
• Ensure safe laboratory operations by strictly following LOTO procedures and wearing appropriate PPE.

Requirements

• Completed Swiss vocational training (EFZ) as an Automatiker, Elektroinstallateur, Elektroniker, Polymechaniker, or equivalent international technical qualification.
• At least two years of experience in electrical testing, industrial environments, or equipment maintenance.
• Practical experience with industrial electrical components or power equipment.
• Familiarity with electrical power systems and measurement techniques.
• Ability to read electrical schematics to identify faults and support troubleshooting of high-power test setups.
• Fluent German language skills and basic English proficiency.

Nice to have

• Three to five years of experience in high-current testing or power systems environments.
• Experience maintaining electrical machines, switchgear, or heavy electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of IEC and UL standards, such as IEC 61439, IEC/UL 60947, UL 508, or UL 61800.
• Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems (CMMS).
• Basic knowledge of control systems, including PLCs, generator controls, or switching control systems.
• Valid forklift operator license (SUVA recognized) and experience handling heavy equipment.
