Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG seeks a Head of BD&L Transactions Immunology in Basel to lead complex licensing deals and partner with therapeutic area leadership. The role involves deal structuring, stakeholder management, and strategic collaboration in a hybrid work model.

This position focuses on architecting and negotiating intricate licensing and partnering transactions spanning all development phases. The role requires close collaboration with Therapeutic Area leadership to ensure strategic alignment and priority setting across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structuring of deals, creation of term sheets, and contract negotiations with external entities
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to develop robust, data-backed business cases
  • Guide governance processes by delivering clear recommendations to senior leadership
  • Oversee internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and competitive deal advancement
  • Track the external landscape to identify partnering opportunities and monitor competitive movements
  • Utilize a broad industry network to facilitate high-value collaborations
  • Represent Novartis as a preferred partner through effective interactions and successful deal execution

Requirements

  • PhD in a scientific discipline, preferably supplemented by an MBA or comparable qualification
  • Significant background in business development, licensing, or investment banking within the pharmaceutical sector
  • Demonstrated success in sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and finalizing complex partnership agreements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of drug development processes across research, development, and commercialization
  • Proven leadership capabilities in managing global, cross-functional teams and strategic projects
  • Exceptional communication and influencing abilities, with experience engaging senior executives and external partners
