Head of Design

Hilobyaktiia seeks a Director of Design to lead product craft for its hypertension management platform, overseeing hardware and software experiences across mobile, web, and wearable devices.

This leadership position is responsible for defining the design standards, aesthetic quality, and user experience strategy for Hilobyaktiia’s ecosystem. The role covers the entire customer journey, including the mobile application, web interface, wearable hardware, and onboarding flows, ensuring that complex health data and device behaviors are translated into intuitive, trustworthy interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design of product flows using Figma, from initial concepts to final implementation.
• Define and maintain high standards for visual design, interaction patterns, motion, typography, and layout across all touchpoints.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to transform abstract problems into polished, buildable solutions.
• Establish and enforce clear guidelines for UI consistency, accessibility, responsive behavior, and content hierarchy.
• Manage the relationship between hardware and software, including device pairing, calibration, charging states, firmware updates, and error handling.
• Build, scale, and maintain comprehensive Figma design systems, component libraries, and documentation.
• Mentor and coach the product design team, providing constructive feedback to elevate overall craft quality.
• Implement structured rituals for design critiques, quality assurance, exploration, and engineering handoffs.
• Integrate AI tools strategically to speed up ideation, prototyping, research synthesis, and iterative design processes.
• Ensure design teams are involved early in product strategy to shape direction rather than merely executing requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Brand, Growth, Clinical, Data, and Leadership to align on user experience goals.

Requirements

• Extensive background in senior product design or design leadership positions.
• Deep, hands-on expertise in Figma, including mastery of modern best practices.
• Proven track record of creating and evolving robust design systems.
• Strong command of interaction design, visual aesthetics, usability principles, and accessibility standards.
• Experience leading design teams while remaining actively involved in the creation of design work.
• Background in fast-paced environments such as startups, scale-ups, healthtech, consumer electronics, or wearable technology.
• Familiarity with localization platforms like Phrase and Phrase TMS, including handling strings and keys.
• A keen eye for detail and strong design judgment, acting as a taste-maker for the product.
• Genuine interest in wearable devices and the nuances of hardware-software integration.
• Commitment to exploring how AI can enhance team productivity and design exploration.
• Focus on the holistic customer experience, from first impression to daily usage, rather than isolated screens.
