Head of IT Strategy, Governance and Transformation

Lonza seeks a Director to lead IT strategy, governance, and transformation as the CIO’s primary orchestrator in a global, regulated CDMO environment.

This position serves as the central driver for enterprise technology strategy, governance, and value realization within a highly regulated global CDMO setting. The role leads the Office of the CIO, aligning IT execution, portfolio governance, and compliance to ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value while acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Define and update the enterprise IT strategy, including multi-year roadmaps, operating models, KPIs, and governance frameworks.
  • Direct the global IT Enterprise PMO as a center of excellence for delivery assurance, portfolio governance, and benefits realization.
  • Manage the end-to-end IT vendor and third-party strategy, covering selection, contracting, performance monitoring, value realization, and risk management.
  • Integrate quality, compliance, and data integrity standards into every phase of the IT delivery lifecycle.
  • Oversee IT workstreams throughout the M&A lifecycle, including due diligence, Day-1 readiness, integrations, carve-outs, TSAs, and post-close synergy realization.
  • Spearhead enterprise IT transformation initiatives focusing on operating models, processes, talent development, and cultural change.

Requirements

  • Over 15 years of experience in enterprise IT, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles focused on IT strategy, governance, PMO, or transformation within complex, multi-site environments.
  • Proven track record of acting as a CIO’s right hand, leading strategy execution, portfolio governance, and executive communications.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling global PMO/EPMO structures and governance frameworks.
  • Strong leadership in vendor management with measurable outcomes in value, cost, and risk.
  • Hands-on experience with GxP IT environments, including CSV/CSA governance and inspection support.
  • Experience in M&A IT integration, including due diligence, Day-1 readiness, integration, carve-outs, and TSAs, preferably within life sciences or regulated industries.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business.

Nice to have

  • Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, COBIT, or Prosci/OCM are advantageous.
