Head of Operations (Remote - Work from Anywhere)

Xapo seeks an Executive Head of Operations to lead the bank's operational backbone remotely. This strategic role focuses on scalability, regulatory compliance, and driving efficiency through automation and AI.

The company is looking for a senior leader to oversee the entire operational infrastructure of Xapo Bank. This position ensures that daily activities are efficient and robust while establishing a strong foundation for future expansion. The ideal candidate will combine deep banking operations expertise with a vision for continuous improvement and rigorous risk management.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement an operational strategy that supports business objectives, emphasizing scalability, efficiency, and adherence to regulations.
• Oversee core functions such as payment processing, treasury management, reconciliations, and back-office tasks.
• Take ownership of operational performance, ensuring all processes meet high standards for quality and control.
• Drive process mapping, optimization, and automation initiatives to minimize manual work and boost operational leverage.
• Develop, document, and enforce standardized operating procedures for all critical operational activities.
• Leverage data and artificial intelligence to enable intelligent automation and foster a forward-thinking operational environment.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, multi-disciplinary operations team.
• Manage resource allocation and workforce planning to ensure the team is structured for success.
• Collaborate with AFC and Compliance to ensure all operational processes adhere to financial regulations and internal policies.
• Design and implement a robust framework for managing operational risks, including controls, monitoring, and reporting.
• Serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits related to the operations department.
• Manage end-to-end Bitcoin and crypto settlement operations, including on-chain reconciliation, wallet management, and custody controls.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in an operations leadership role within a regulated financial services environment, such as fintech, banking, or wealth management.
• Proven track record of leading and scaling multiple operational functions, including payments, treasury, and business operations.
• Deep expertise in process improvement methodologies and a history of successfully implementing automation and operational change.
• Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape for financial institutions, including AML and financial crime prevention.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to translate high-level business goals into a detailed operational roadmap.
