Head of Project Management / Head of PMO (f/m/d)

Awin AG seeks an Executive-level Head of Project Management to lead a global PMO, drive strategic portfolio delivery, and foster a culture of excellence and innovation.

The company is looking for a senior leader to direct a distributed team of project management professionals. This role sits at the crossroads of strategy, business, and technology, with a mandate to position the PMO as a centre of excellence that continuously adapts to meet evolving business needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage the entire PMO portfolio, including overseeing the intake process for new projects.
• Shape and mobilize strategic initiatives by defining their early structure, scope, and execution approach.
• Lead the executive reporting cycle, preparing materials for C-level updates, the Supervisory Board, and strategic portfolio communications.
• Drive the innovative application of AI to evolve the PMO function.
• Lead, coach, and develop Lead Program Managers and Senior Project Managers.
• Define and manage portfolio decision pathways, ensuring authority is exercised at the appropriate level.
• Monitor portfolio-wide signals to proactively anticipate risk, ensuring timely escalation and mitigation actions.
• Partner with the VP of Corporate Development & Strategy to lead the annual OKR planning process.
• Evolve the PMO strategy, ensuring it is embedded into day-to-day operations and continuously drives towards a value-driven culture.

Requirements

• 7+ years’ experience in Project or Program Management.
• 3+ years in a people leadership role within a remote or hybrid digital environment.
• Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) or relevant degree.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Experience leading people leaders and multi-layered teams.
• Experience using AI with an innovative mindset.
• Experience with project management tools such as Asana.
