Junior Charterer

Bunge is hiring a Junior Charterer in Geneva to support regional spot market activities, vessel operations, and trade execution within a global agribusiness environment.

This position is tailored for individuals aiming to establish a career in shipping and trading. The role provides practical exposure to market dynamics, negotiation processes, and vessel operations while supporting spot market chartering activities at a regional level.

Responsibilities

• Manage vessel chartering transactions within the designated region, gradually taking on more independent responsibilities.
• Acquire a deep understanding of Charter Party terms and technical shipping requirements.
• Work closely with Operations, Logistics, Pricing, and Chartering departments to ensure alignment.
• Coordinate with brokers, ship owners, and external charterers to finalize deals efficiently.
• Record trade details accurately and promptly in internal tracking systems.
• Track vessel locations, market trends, and freight spreads.
• Share market insights and regular updates with internal stakeholders.
• Facilitate smooth operational execution throughout the value chain.
• Analyze regional supply and demand factors to inform decision-making.
• Proactively communicate spot market developments to relevant teams.
• Learn about freight derivatives (FFAs) and various pricing models.
• Demonstrate curiosity regarding broader trading strategies and market behaviors.

Requirements

• Hold a university degree in Business or a related discipline.
• Possess prior experience in Sales, Business Development, Trading, or other fast-paced commercial settings.
• Demonstrate fluent proficiency in English.
• Exhibit strong analytical, communication, and negotiation capabilities.
• Maintain composure and make effective decisions under pressure.

Nice to have

• Fluency in French and/or Spanish.
