Buhlergroup seeks a Junior Mechanical Designer in Cary, CH, to handle equipment modeling, drafting, and design compliance using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.

This position focuses on guiding design projects from initial concept through to final execution, ensuring that all engineering outcomes are efficient, manufacturable, and of high value. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize design quality and usability while meeting specific project specifications. Responsibilities

  • Create detailed equipment models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Produce sales drawings utilizing both Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Verify technical compliance, ensuring proper fit and function of components.
  • Present design rationale clearly, incorporate feedback, and help drive decision-making.
  • Prioritize workload to stay within budget constraints and meet project deadlines.
  • Address and resolve discrepancies found during the design and manufacturing phases.
  • Conduct inspections of components, work-in-process items, and finished equipment.
  • Maintain and organize project-specific information on SharePoint sites.
  • Participate actively in project meetings with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Handle design-related tasks arising from equipment installation issues at customer locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in engineering drafting, drawings, and core engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly practices, such as welding, sheet metal forming, and press operations.
  • Familiarity with machine safety codes and designing equipment for the food industry.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of PTC Windchill.
