Mechanical Designer

Bühlergroup seeks a Senior Mechanical Designer in Cary, CH to lead design projects from concept to execution, ensuring technical compliance and mentoring team members.

This position focuses on driving design work from initial concepts through to final execution, aiming to meet strict project specifications while enhancing visual and interaction quality. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver significant results, applying strong professional judgment and craft while providing mentorship to other designers.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality equipment models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Produce sales drawings utilizing Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Verify technical compliance, fit, and function of designs.
• Present design rationale clearly, incorporate feedback, and help drive decision-making.
• Manage workload priorities to stay within budget constraints and project timelines.
• Resolve discrepancies arising during the design and manufacture of equipment.
• Inspect components, work-in-process, and finished equipment.
• Organize project-specific information on SharePoint sites.
• Participate in project meetings with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Address design-related tasks resulting from equipment installation issues at customer sites.
• Provide mentorship and design direction to other designers through critique, coaching, and collaborative problem-solving.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience.

Nice to have

• Proficient in engineering drafting/drawings and engineering principles.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly practices, e.g. welding, sheet metal forming, press operations, etc.
• Awareness of machine safety codes and designing equipment for the food industry.
• Proficient in GD&T.
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Proficient in PTC Windchill.
