Lead Automation Engineer

Bühler seeks a Lead Automation Engineer in Makati City to design, develop, and commission PLC and Plant Control System software for sustainable food and mobility solutions.

This role leads the automation engineering efforts, ensuring that control systems are designed, tested, and commissioned in alignment with project scopes and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Draft control philosophy documents and secure necessary approvals before starting software design.
• Develop software designs and gain sign-off prior to beginning PLC and Plant Control System (PCS) engineering.
• Set up PLC and PCS development environments, including templates and simulators.
• Code and simulate PLC and PCS software to meet project specifications and client needs.
• Lead Customer Acceptance Tests (CAT) before commissioning and present the software to clients.
• Commission PLC and PCS software according to the agreed scope and CAT outcomes.
• Train client teams on Bühler PCS operations during on-site visits.
• Collaborate with project teams and customers in meetings from start to finish.
• Archive and back up all documentation and software securely.
• Protect sensitive data, such as customer passwords and internal files, in line with company standards.
• Deliver all project phases (concept, engineering, commissioning) on schedule and within budget.
• Offer remote technical support for automation issues post-commissioning when needed.
• Collect feedback and lessons learned to share with the team for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of experience in automation design, implementation, or commissioning.
• Practical experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or comparable automation tools.
• Background in industrial automation projects.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve technical challenges.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing principles.
• Proficiency in English communication.
