Automation Engineer (BioTech / Pharma)

Agap2 seeks a Mid-level Automation Engineer in Basel to design, install, and qualify automation systems for pharmaceutical and biotech clients, requiring strong PLC/HMI skills and GMP experience.

This position places you as a consultant on client sites, where you apply your technical expertise to support the successful realization of their projects. The role demands agility and a readiness to adapt quickly to varying work environments and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and qualify automation systems for processing and utility infrastructure.
• Lead engineering teams and coordinate activities for strategic investment projects involving automation.
• Program PLCs and HMIs, and handle maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of programming issues.
• Train cross-functional teams on the operation and maintenance of new automation systems.
• Monitor system trends and troubleshoot to ensure equipment meets specifications and capacity requirements.
• Ensure all activities comply with company policies, procedures, and project objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial IT, or automation.
• At least two years of experience working under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations.
• Strong technical knowledge of automation, controls, instrumentation, batch programming, PLCs, DCS, SCADA, Building Automation Systems, and IT/OT networks.
• Proficiency in PLC programming, control, and safety technology for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Experience with Siemens, Emerson Delta-V, Syncade, ROCKWELL, or Allen Bradley platforms.
• Solid understanding of batch processing and recipe management.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and programmatic issues effectively.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and German.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
