Lead Database Architect (80-100%)

TWINT AG seeks a Lead Database Architect to define target architecture on Azure and OCI, manage database strategy, and lead engineering teams in Bern.

This position sits within the Technology & Architecture Team, a group of senior experts dedicated to guiding the development and continuous improvement of a high-performance, scalable, and secure payment system. As TWINT reorganizes into Value Streams and expands its development capacity, this role is critical for ensuring robust data infrastructure across all systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other lead architects to define the target architecture for TWINT on Azure and OCI platforms.
• Oversee the strategy and overall engineering of databases across all TWINT systems.
• Rearchitect existing systems and select the most suitable persistence layers based on specific use cases.
• Manage the full lifecycle of databases, including demand forecasting and dynamic scaling.
• Provide functional management for database engineers and architects throughout the company.
• Support engineering teams during feature implementation and lead architects via the database chapter.
• Establish and govern data management, data architecture, and data lineage practices.

Requirements

• A completed degree in computer science (Bachelor or Master).
• Several years of hands-on project experience, preferably within the payment industry.
• Extensive practical and project experience in database engineering within complex business and technical environments.
• Substantial experience with Oracle and OCI engineering (including ExaData) as well as Azure database offerings.
• Proven ability to set up performance-optimized data models.
• Strong leadership and technical leadership capabilities.
• Proficient command of the English language.
