Library Associate

The International Committee of the Red Cross is seeking a Junior Library Associate to support daily operations, cataloging, and user services at its Geneva location. This full-time, on-site role requires fluency in English and French.

This position supports the ICRC Library in Geneva by handling daily operations, managing resources, and assisting researchers and staff. The role focuses on cataloging, maintaining databases, and providing reference services to ensure smooth library functioning.

Responsibilities

  • Help with day-to-day library tasks such as shelving, reshelving, and organizing materials.
  • Catalog and classify new and existing library items following established standards.
  • Provide reference and research assistance to ICRC personnel and external users.
  • Keep library databases and digital resources accurate and accessible.
  • Handle interlibrary loan requests and document delivery services.
  • Assist in organizing library events, exhibitions, and outreach activities.
  • Contribute to library projects and initiatives as directed.

Requirements

  • An academic background in library science, information management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in library management systems and digital tools.
  • Fluency in English and French.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a library or information service environment is an advantage.
  • Additional language skills are an asset.
