MET Group seeks a Mid-level LNG Financial Trader in Baar, CH, to manage financial exposures and execute trading strategies across European and US natural gas markets.

This position focuses on pricing and managing financial risks linked to physical LNG portfolios. The trader develops and implements strategies for European natural gas, Henry Hub, and option markets to optimize portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement trading plans for European and Henry Hub natural gas, LNG-linked (JKM) financial markets, and related derivatives.
  • Value and handle financial optionality found within LNG supply, transport, and marketing contracts.
  • Track US gas fundamentals like production, storage, pipeline flows, export demand, weather, and supply-demand balances.
  • Spot and act on trading chances from LNG market dislocations, basis shifts, volatility, and global dynamics.
  • Hedge LNG exposures using futures, swaps, options, and other financial tools.
  • Use quantitative models, analytics, and market data for valuation, risk management, and trading choices.
  • Work with LNG commercial, origination, risk, scheduling, and analytics teams to improve portfolio results.
  • Study links between US gas markets, LNG exports, and international benchmarks to find arbitrage and optimization paths.
  • Build and keep relationships with brokers, exchanges, counterparties, and market players.
  • Keep up with regulatory changes, market structure shifts, and trends in US natural gas and LNG.

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven track record in European/US natural gas trading, LNG trading, or gas derivatives.
  • Deep knowledge of Henry Hub pricing, US gas fundamentals, basis markets, storage, LNG export economics, and global LNG dynamics.
  • Experience managing financial risk for LNG portfolios and physical optionality.
  • Understanding of futures, swaps, options, structured gas products, volatility, and options valuation.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in Python, R, VBA, or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with trading/risk platforms and exchanges like CME/NYMEX and ICE.
  • Strong grasp of market risk management, VaR, stress testing, and position management within risk limits.
  • Ability to analyze complex relationships across US gas, LNG, and global energy markets.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for cross-functional collaboration.
