Nestlé seeks a Microbiome Fermentation Intern in Lausanne to support ex-vivo research, lab procedures, and data analysis within the Institute of Health Sciences.
Based at the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences, this internship aims to bolster internal expertise in ex-vivo microbiome fermentation. The successful candidate will work alongside scientists, laboratory specialists, and data experts to advance nutrition and health research goals.
Responsibilities
- Perform ex-vivo microbiome fermentation experiments to produce reliable data for nutrition and health studies.
- Assist with metagenomic and metabolomic analyses by preparing samples and collaborating with specialist teams to link experimental results with data interpretation.
- Refine laboratory protocols and experimental parameters to enhance the robustness and scalability of in vitro gut models.
- Communicate findings through detailed reports and discussions with stakeholders to translate scientific outcomes into actionable recommendations.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program or recently graduated with a degree in microbiology, biotechnology, life sciences, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated hands-on wet laboratory experience, preferably including exposure to microbiology, microbiome research, molecular biology, or fermentation techniques.
- Fluent professional communication skills in English.

- Interest in applying data analysis tools such as R, Python, or similar software to microbiome and metabolome datasets.
