Full-time PhD position at EPFL's Laboratory for fundamental BioPhotonics to develop imaging technology for studying osmotic pressure and cell membrane tension. Collaboration with University of Geneva under ERC Synergy Grant R2-Tension.
This full-time PhD role is based at EPFL's Laboratory for fundamental BioPhotonics (LBP). The position focuses on creating new imaging technologies and conducting experiments to investigate how osmotic pressure and cell membrane tension are controlled at the molecular level. The project is a joint effort between EPFL (Prof. S. Roke) and the University of Geneva (Prof. A. Roux), funded by the ERC Synergy Grant R2-Tension.
The Laboratory for fundamental BioPhotonics specializes in developing nonlinear imaging techniques to study, characterize, and image water in various configurations. The research involves interdisciplinary aspects that require a highly motivated candidate with strong analytical abilities and the capacity to think creatively. The project welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds, including photonics, physics, chemistry/material science, electrical engineering, or bioengineering.
