Procurement Manager - Direct Operations, Kaiseraugst

The company is seeking a senior procurement specialist based in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland, to lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for direct materials used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. This role requires strong analytical skills, SAP experience, and fluent English/German proficiency.

This position falls under the Materials, Manufacturing, and CAPEX Delivery group and handles essential sourcing activities. The professional will focus on a specific raw material category for API or drug production, applying analytical and planning abilities to enhance direct procurement. The role involves collaborating with Pharma Technical Operations stakeholders to align business needs with effective supplier interactions and procurement decisions.

Responsibilities

• Analyze market trends and internal data to create sourcing strategies and tactical plans for third-party goods and services.
• Execute procurement initiatives using spend analysis, category expertise, negotiation tactics, contracting, and supplier management techniques.
• Convert procurement results into automated purchasing channels and content that boost user satisfaction and operational efficiency.
• Lead or assist in developing procurement processes to elevate service levels and minimize operational and systemic risks.
• Handle daily direct materials requests, optimize the end-to-end procurement journey, and implement productivity improvements to support stakeholders.

Requirements

• University degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience with direct materials in regulated sectors, specifically in direct procurement, strategic sourcing, category strategy development, and contracting.
• Practical expertise with the SAP Materials Management (MM) module.
• Deep understanding of direct materials environments and awareness of various raw material categories.
• Demonstrated project management capabilities.
• Fluent English and German proficiency (minimum B2 level).

Nice to have

• Background in designing, implementing, or utilizing AI solutions for procurement challenges, such as predictive sourcing, automated contract analysis, or AI-driven spend analytics.
