Destinusgroup in Payerne, CH, seeks a Senior Propulsion Engineer to lead the certification and qualification of solid rocket motors for advanced aerospace applications, ensuring compliance with MIL-STD and STANAG standards.

This role focuses on shaping the certification and qualification process for solid rocket motors used in advanced aerospace systems. It involves integrating design, analysis, and testing to ensure propulsion systems meet military and NATO standards, supporting Destinus’s mission to revolutionize the defense industry with cutting-edge UAVs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and develop rocket motors and pyrotechnic components.
  • Conduct detailed data and performance analysis to support iterative improvements.
  • Support qualification and certification of rocket motors according to MIL-STD and STANAG standards.
  • Interpret certification requirements and convert them into engineering and test specifications.
  • Prepare technical reports, qualification matrices, and compliance documentation aligned with aerospace and military standards.
  • Define and execute test plans for qualification, including functional, vibration, thermal, and pressure tests.
  • Perform risk assessments using FMEA or FMECA methodologies.
  • Collaborate with design engineers on motor hardware, insulation, and igniter integration to ensure certifiability from the outset.
  • Support failure investigations, root cause analysis, and updates to design or test procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Work with internal and external partners to align design validation and certification schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Propulsion Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of experience in rocket motor design and certification.
  • Deep understanding of design for MIL-STD, STANAG, or similar aerospace qualification standards.
  • Prior experience qualifying rocket motors or ignition-safe devices under NATO standards.
  • Strong knowledge of risk analysis methods such as FMEA or FMECA.
  • Hands-on experience with static firing tests, propellant handling, or motor integration.
  • Excellent analytical and documentation abilities, including data interpretation, report writing, and compliance record-keeping.
  • Ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines including mechanical, thermal, materials, and systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to different Destinus sites in Switzerland.
  • Fluency in English.
