Quant & Analytics Intern - Financial Services Risk Consulting

Ernst & Young AG seeks a Quant & Analytics Intern in Zürich to support financial services risk advisory and audit projects through quantitative modeling and analysis.

This internship sits within the Financial Services Risk Advisory team, where the successful candidate will contribute to consulting and audit engagements for clients in the financial sector. The position offers a chance to address complex challenges and help define the future of risk management in the industry by delivering tangible value through rigorous quantitative work.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate quantitative models covering market, credit, operational, and fraud risks.
• Conduct statistical analyses to validate models and communicate findings to clients and regulatory bodies.
• Assist in auditing quantitative processes, including the independent assessment of internal client models.
• Value financial instruments and contracts to identify trends in structured products and derivatives.
• Evaluate client risk management frameworks and appetite against current regulatory standards.
• Contribute to non-financial risk projects, with a focus on sustainability and climate-related risks.

Requirements

• A recently completed or ongoing Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline.
• Fluent written and spoken English skills.
• A strong passion for financial risk management and applying quantitative methods to practical problems.
• Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to integrate rigorous methodology and cross-disciplinary thinking.

Nice to have

• Programming proficiency in Python, R, C#, or VBA.
• Experience with machine learning techniques.
• Interest in emerging technologies such as AI, ML, and LLMs within banking and insurance.
• Awareness of sustainability issues.
• Proficiency in German and/or French.
