CSEM seeks a Senior R&D Engineer for laser technologies in Neuchâtel. The role focuses on developing optical atomic clocks, space tech, and laser instrumentation through hands-on research and prototype development.
This position contributes to industrial and academic initiatives centered on optical atomic clocks, space technologies, and laser-based instrumentation. The engineer will drive technical execution and innovation across these advanced domains.
Responsibilities
- Perform essential technical duties to ensure project success
- Construct, refine, and evaluate laser sources, mode-locked lasers, optical frequency combs, stabilized lasers, and optical amplifiers
- Direct the assembly and testing of laser-based prototypes
- Investigate and create novel laser architectures
- Participate in laser-based metrology project execution
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Physics or a related discipline
- Demonstrated background in a comparable area
- Understanding of lasers and laser-based systems
- Familiarity with laser characterization
- Knowledge of laser stabilization and metrology
- Awareness of atomic clocks
- Grasp of nonlinear optics
- Understanding of time & frequency metrology
- Knowledge of optical spectroscopy
