Senior R&D Engineer in Cell Technologies and Biosystems

CSEM seeks a Senior R&D Engineer in Cell Technologies and Biosystems to lead multidisciplinary projects in automated cell microsystems for drug testing and regenerative medicine, bridging research and industrial deployment.

The company is looking for a senior professional to direct and manage complex industrial and research initiatives focused on automated cell microsystems. This role aims to advance enabling technologies for life-science research, personalized health, and translational applications, while delivering robust tools that connect fundamental scientific discovery with industrial implementation for life-science partners.

Responsibilities

• Oversee substantial industrial projects or activities, covering resources, objectives, challenges, and budgets, while contributing to other initiatives.
• Support the acquisition of new projects.
• Foster strong relationships with partners and engage in customer meetings.
• Introduce innovative concepts to improve operations, address intricate challenges, and launch new successful activities.
• Lead and assist with experimental work involving cells.
• Offer functional guidance and support to team members.

Requirements

• MSc degree with at least eight years of professional experience in Life Science Technologies, emphasizing cell technologies, or a PhD with four or more years in the same field.
• Deep knowledge of bioengineering, including cell biology, complex in-vitro models such as organoids, bioassays, microphysiological systems, organ-on-chip, and tissue engineering.
• Proficiency in microtechnologies and integrated lab systems, including microfluidics, mechanical design, and smart labware.
• Understanding of biocompatible materials, biointerfaces, surface chemistry, cell–material interactions, and device functionalization.
• Ability to integrate biology, chemistry, and technology into robust solutions at the system level.
• Experience in translational and business-oriented R&D, including project leadership, partner interaction, innovation, and technology transfer.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking, with the ability to handle multidisciplinary activities.
• Innovative and out-of-the-box thinking.
• Customer and results-oriented approach.
