R&D Intern - Materials Testing & Product Development, m/f/d

qCella AG seeks an R&D Intern in Zürich to support materials testing and product development for innovative heating technology within a dynamic startup environment.

This temporary internship, lasting between six and twelve months, places the candidate at the ETH Zürich Campus Hönggerberg. The position integrates directly into the research and development team of a hardware startup dedicated to advancing heating technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Create and evaluate new paper-based materials and associated technologies
  • Assist in setting up analytical methods and testing protocols
  • Perform laboratory experiments and interpret resulting research data
  • Engage in project scheduling and attend regular team meetings
  • Share project findings with internal stakeholders and the R&D group
  • Work alongside engineers, researchers, and other interns to construct prototypes

Requirements

  • Enrolled as an interdisciplinary student in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering (with Chemistry/Materials background), Chemistry (with Electrical Engineering background), or a comparable discipline
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English
  • Valid work authorization for Switzerland, including citizenship in a Schengen member state or enrollment in a Swiss university requiring a mandatory internship
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, capacity for independent work, and a high degree of responsibility

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in project work, whether academic or within an industry setting
