Research Associate for in vivo Nonmalignant Hematology Research

Coopers Group AG seeks a Research Associate in Basel to lead in vivo and in vitro studies on nonmalignant hematology, focusing on coagulation and novel therapies.

Positioned within the Discovery unit, this role requires full experimental ownership from design through analysis. The associate supports preclinical evaluations for nonmalignant hematologic disorders, collaborating closely with clinical teams to assess the efficacy and safety of new pharmaceutical assets.

Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, and interpret in vivo and in vitro experiments related to coagulation.
  • Evaluate the safety and efficacy of new drug candidates using molecular and biochemical techniques.
  • Process and analyze patient-derived samples, including blood and plasma, in both in vitro and ex vivo contexts.
  • Analyze experimental data and communicate findings to the wider team.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, maintain laboratory inventory, and uphold safety and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Life Sciences with 2–3 years of practical animal study experience (PhD holders are not eligible).
  • Alternatively, an apprenticeship as a Research Associate combined with 4–5 years of relevant academic or industry experience.
  • Valid LTK1, FELASA, or equivalent animal handling certification.
  • Proven expertise in in vivo procedures, including compound administration, monitoring, and organ sampling.
  • Strong proficiency in in vitro methods such as DNA/RNA isolation, ELISA, qPCR, and various biochemical and protein-based assays.
  • Fluent command of English.

Nice to have

  • Practical experience with thrombin generation and chromogenic substrate assays.
  • Background in rodent surgical procedures, including in vivo thrombosis and bleeding models.
  • Solid understanding of coagulation, hemostasis, bleeding, or thrombosis biology.
  • Previous work experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.
