This internship is embedded within the Pharma Technical Development department in Basel, Switzerland. The team utilizes advanced analytical science to support synthetic molecule projects, spanning from GLP-tox studies through clinical phases to commercialization. The intern will specifically assist in investigating drug release mechanisms for amorphous solid dispersions. Please note that this position is strictly an internship and cannot be used for a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma thesis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews relevant to the assigned project.
  • Undergo training on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and analytical or manufacturing equipment.
  • Create analytical methods to evaluate the dissolution of spray-dried powders.
  • Perform dissolution tests on oral solid dosage forms that include spray-dried powders.
  • Hold regular meetings with supervisors to review progress and plan subsequent actions.
  • Draft a final report summarizing the internship activities and findings.
  • Complete the RiSM assignment by producing a five-slide PDF presentation that outlines formulation strategies for poorly water-soluble drugs.

Requirements

  • Be currently enrolled in university or have graduated within the last 12 months before the start date.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and reliability while working in a non-GMP setting.
  • Exhibit a team-oriented mindset with strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Work independently with a focus on problem-solving.
  • Possess solid proficiency in MS-Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Non-EU/EFTA applicants must provide a university certificate confirming the internship is mandatory for their degree and proof of enrollment for the entire duration.

Nice to have

  • Studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, or Chemistry.
  • Fluency in both English and German.
