Roche seeks an intern in Basel to support Analytical Development by researching and optimizing PFAS-free analytical methods for peptide APIs within a sustainable, science-driven environment.
This internship is situated within the Analytical Development & Quality Control team of Pharma Technical Development in Basel. The primary objective is to assist the department in evaluating and creating sustainable, PFAS-free alternative analytical methods for New Chemical Entities, with a specific focus on peptides.
Responsibilities
- Perform an extensive literature review to identify current PFAS-free analytical techniques suitable for characterizing New Chemical Entities.
- Engage in sustainable research initiatives aimed at substituting hazardous solvents and modifiers with eco-friendly, PFAS-free alternatives in standard workflows.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of alternative RP-HPLC methods tailored for the characterization of New Chemical Entities.
- Attend regular alignment meetings with supervisors to review project progress and address technical challenges.
- Finalize the internship by writing a detailed report and presenting the findings to the scientific team.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a university program or graduated within the last 12 months before the start date.
- Background in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Biochemistry is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, including basic operation of HPLC/UHPLC and LC-MS systems.
- Practical experience with New Chemical Entities, such as peptides or oligonucleotides, is ideal.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Nice to have
- Strong proficiency in both English and German is considered a significant advantage.
