A 12-month onsite internship in Basel focused on developing PFAS-free analytical methods for peptide APIs within Roche's Analytical Development team.
This internship sits within the Analytical Development & Quality Control division of Pharma Technical Development. The primary objective is to assist the department in creating and validating sustainable, PFAS-free analytical techniques for New Chemical Entities, with a specific emphasis on peptides.
Responsibilities
- Perform an extensive review of existing literature regarding PFAS-free analytical methods for characterizing New Chemical Entities.
- Engage in sustainable research initiatives to substitute hazardous solvents and modifiers with environmentally friendly, PFAS-free alternatives in standard workflows.
- Develop and refine alternative RP-HPLC methods tailored for the characterization of New Chemical Entities.
- Join regular alignment meetings with supervisors to review project status and address technical challenges.
- Prepare a detailed final report summarizing the internship findings.
- Deliver a professional presentation of results to the scientific team.
- Create a slide deck that outlines a roadmap for transitioning analytical processes to greener practices.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a university program or graduated within the last 12 months before the start date.
- Background in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Biochemistry is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in a laboratory setting with foundational knowledge of HPLC, UHPLC, and LC-MS systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in English is required; strong proficiency in German is considered a significant advantage.
Nice to have
- Practical experience working with New Chemical Entities, such as peptides or oligonucleotides.
- Ability to communicate effectively in German.
