Proton seeks a Senior Android Developer in Geneva to lead the creation of Proton Photos using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Rust, with full ownership of the development lifecycle.
In this position, the successful candidate will take complete responsibility for building and maintaining Proton Photos. The role demands end-to-end ownership, from initial scoping and prioritization to final delivery, ensuring the application meets high standards for performance and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Build and sustain cross-platform Android apps using Kotlin and Rust.
- Manage the full development lifecycle, including defining scope and setting priorities.
- Drive innovation by investigating emerging technologies and development methods.
- Enhance app performance, responsiveness, and overall usability.
- Implement robust memory management, multithreading, and concurrency solutions.
- Architect scalable systems that efficiently handle data caching, network limits, and server loads.

Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated history of creating Android applications with Kotlin.
- Solid skills in using Jetpack Compose for Android UI development.
- Deep knowledge of mobile architecture, design patterns, and industry best practices.
- Experience handling multithreading and concurrency issues in mobile environments.
- Background working in rapid-growth or scale-up settings.

- Experience or familiarity with the Rust programming language.
