Senior Foundation Engineer (Drive)

Proton seeks a Senior Foundation Engineer in Geneva to build and maintain the core libraries powering Proton Drive, focusing on Rust, C#, and TypeScript.

The Drive Foundation serves as the essential infrastructure for Proton Drive, enabling consistent and efficient execution of cross-client initiatives. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining the foundational components that drive the application's functionality. As the platform expands, the role provides clear pathways for professional growth, whether as an individual contributor, technical lead, or engineering manager.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build core libraries using C#, TypeScript, and Rust.
• Guarantee that solutions perform optimally and remain compatible across all supported platforms.
• Review code to maintain high standards of quality, maintainability, and performance.
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, mobile, and desktop teams to integrate core libraries smoothly.
• Design and execute comprehensive testing plans, including unit and integration tests.
• Produce and update detailed documentation for all core library components.

Requirements

• At least five years of professional software development experience, with a primary focus on Rust.
• Deep understanding of Rust features, including concurrency and ownership models.
• Proven track record of developing libraries for client-side applications such as web, mobile, or desktop.
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a team.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on efficient troubleshooting.
