Proton seeks a Senior Front End Engineer for its Standard Notes team to build secure, high-performance productivity tools using React and TypeScript in a hybrid work model.
This position sits within the Standard Notes team at Proton, where the primary objective is to evolve the platform into a robust, secure note-taking and productivity solution. The role involves leading technical implementation, improving developer experience, and ensuring that all features meet high standards for security and user privacy.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality user interfaces across the product suite.
- Convert product specifications into technical tasks and guide the team through implementation.
- Improve the development lifecycle, tooling, and code architecture to enhance the developer experience.
- Write clean, testable, and concise code to uphold and raise codebase standards.
- Plan and deliver new features, technical projects, and greenfield initiatives.
- Mentor team members to foster a culture of accountability, creativity, and continuous learning.
Requirements
- Strong grasp of JavaScript methodologies and design patterns.
- Proficiency in TypeScript or another typed programming language.
- Hands-on experience with React or at least two comparable frameworks, focusing on performant and reusable components.
- Solid knowledge of software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles, design patterns, and CI/CD pipelines.
- A product-oriented mindset dedicated to delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within distributed teams.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of client-side security risks, such as the OWASP Top Ten, and strategies to mitigate them.
- Familiarity with UX design, accessibility standards, and internationalization/localization practices.
- Experience using Grafana or similar monitoring tools.
- Ability to translate product requirements into architectural designs and implementation plans.
- Practical experience with NodeJS.
- Understanding of cryptography concepts, including key exchange mechanisms and encryption types.
