Avaya Switzerland GmbH seeks a Senior Front End Engineer to lead the development of the Avaya Infinity Platform. This remote role focuses on building resilient, high-performance React applications with a strong emphasis on accessibility and reliability.
The company is looking for an experienced engineer to drive the creation of stable and scalable frontend features for the Avaya Infinity Platform. In the initial months, the focus is on delivering reliable code and establishing trust through rigorous review processes. Over the first year, the successful candidate is expected to evolve into a technical leader responsible for ensuring system reliability at scale.
Responsibilities
- Develop robust and resilient user interface features, ensuring that edge cases and potential failure modes are handled proactively.
- Analyze and improve application performance, specifically targeting latency, throughput, memory usage, and rendering speed for data-heavy interfaces.
- Create interactive interfaces that utilize WebSockets, streaming data, or comparable real-time technologies.
- Ensure strict adherence to WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility guidelines, including the implementation of ARIA patterns, keyboard navigation, live regions, and automated accessibility testing.
- Execute comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Manage the operational aspects of deployed features, respond to incidents, and continuously enhance system reliability.
- Elevate team standards by providing architectural guidance, conducting thorough code reviews, and facilitating knowledge sharing.
- Communicate technical choices and decisions clearly to engineering peers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least seven years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Minimum of five years specializing in frontend development with React and TypeScript.
- Strong grasp of component architecture, performance optimization techniques, and modern rendering patterns.
- At least two years of experience building real-time user interfaces.
- Demonstrated history of taking production ownership for at least two years.
- Proven ability to mentor colleagues through code reviews and architectural advice over the past two years.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with design-system tools like Storybook, shared component libraries, or theming frameworks.
- Experience integrating rich content features such as embedded editors, data grids, or canvas/diagram rendering.
- One to two years of backend proficiency with Node.js microservices, message brokers like Kafka, caching layers such as Redis, or relational databases.
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and OIDC authentication flows.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipeline design.
- Background in contract testing, API mocking, or integration testing using tools like PACT, MSW, or Testcontainers.
- Experience implementing internationalization and localization at scale.
- Familiarity with feature flagging and experimentation platforms.
- Understanding of SRE principles, including error budgets, SLOs/SLIs, fault containment, capacity planning, and post-incident reviews.
