Senior Associate - Bioanalytical LC-MS Assay Developer

Roche seeks a Senior Associate to develop and validate LC-MS assays within its pRED organisation, supporting preclinical and clinical pipelines through advanced bioanalytical techniques.

This position operates within Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED) structure, specifically under the Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) group and the Bioanalytics and Biomarkers (BioAM) department. The role is pivotal in advancing non-regulated preclinical and exploratory clinical pipelines by bridging scientific expertise with innovative practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, qualify, and validate analytical methods to accurately measure drug candidates, metabolites, and biomarkers across diverse biological samples.
  • Implement bioanalytical and biomarker assays to back non-clinical pharmacokinetic (PK) and toxicokinetic (TK) studies, alongside exploratory clinical work adhering to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards when necessary.
  • Maintain precise records of experimental findings and assist in creating detailed technical documentation, such as Bioanalytical Reports and Analytical Method Descriptions.
  • Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment, manage consumable inventory, and ensure high operational standards in the assigned workspace.
  • Continuously enhance technical proficiency in Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and automated sample preparation workflows.
  • Utilise IT and digital solutions to streamline experimental design, analyse data, and present scientific outcomes effectively to cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline, accompanied by relevant professional experience.
  • Strong practical background in modern analytical methods, with a specific focus on quantitative liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
  • Proven ability to work with computerized data acquisition systems, analytical processing software, and automated sample preparation techniques.
  • A strong aptitude or willingness to embrace IT and digital/AI-supported workflows for designing experiments, tracking data, and presenting results.
  • Exceptional teamwork skills, a focus on delivering results, open communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments to meet project deadlines.
