Senior Avaloq & Securities Accounting Specialist

Vontobel seeks a Senior Avaloq & Securities Accounting Specialist in Zürich to lead securities accounting processes, drive transformation, and ensure compliance within its Finance Hub.

The company is looking for a specialist to join its Finance Hub in Zürich as a core member of the Securities Accounting & Reporting team. In this position, the individual will serve as the primary expert for Avaloq Accounting and the ePOCA sub-ledger, helping to maintain operational standards while supporting ongoing finance transformation efforts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the go-to expert for Avaloq Accounting and the ePOCA securities accounting sub-ledger.
• Manage the complete lifecycle of financial instruments accounting within the sub-ledger, including transaction imports and booking item exports.
• Update and enhance the Avaloq and ePOCA accounting configurations to align with evolving business needs and regulatory updates.
• Lead process optimization, automation efforts, and finance transformation projects focused on the securities accounting sub-ledger.
• Assist the accounting team in maintaining precise booking, valuation, and reconciliation of financial instruments.
• Provide accounting data and reporting to Group Finance, local statutory reporting, Tax, and other internal stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to international and local accounting standards (IFRS, FINMA) as well as internal control requirements.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with accounting sub-ledger systems in banking, such as SAP TRM, ePOCA, or Avaloq.
• Solid background in securities accounting and investment operations, including corporate actions, income events, and position movements for the bank and group entities.
• Demonstrated project and transformation experience, preferably involving SAP TRM or other sub-ledger implementations.
• Strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive, hands-on approach.

Nice to have

• Experience with reporting from data warehouses or other data sources is preferred.
• Knowledge of tax accounting for financial instruments, such as withholding tax or Section 871(m), is beneficial.
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, reporting solutions, or data warehouses is advantageous.
• Interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a readiness to adopt AI-enabled tools and workflows.
