Senior Backend Developer

Alohi seeks a Senior Backend Developer to build and scale server-side systems for its AI-first SaaS platform. This fully on-site role is based in Geneva, Switzerland.

The company is an AI-driven SaaS scale-up aiming to streamline business operations. This position focuses on constructing and expanding the backend infrastructure that supports their product suite, ensuring high performance and reliability for a growing user base.

Responsibilities

• Construct and upkeep critical backend systems capable of handling high-volume traffic.
• Create and manage robust APIs and web services that support frontend applications.
• Develop backend modules with a focus on clean architecture and long-term maintainability.
• Build infrastructure for AI features, including integrations with LLMs and machine learning data pipelines.
• Diagnose and fix performance bottlenecks within a scalable, high-traffic environment.
• Optimize database queries and system design to accommodate increasing demand.
• Deliver development tasks on schedule while maintaining high code quality.
• Deploy and manage services using containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Enhance CI/CD pipelines and build systems to improve development workflows.
• Participate in on-call rotations to maintain system reliability and address production issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end features.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in backend software engineering, preferably in SaaS or tech-driven settings.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Solid experience with complex data structures and databases (MongoDB, MariaDB, Elasticsearch).
• Strong Linux knowledge and hands-on experience.
• Good understanding of HTTP, REST, web servers, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with build systems and CI/CD procedures.
• Ability to write clean, scalable, and well-tested code.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
